Niqua Charis Designs

The Product: Maximo Application Suite Maintenance Essentials offers a simplified and flexible approach ideal for clients new to Maximo or adopting a SaaS solution for the first time

In this contract, a product was promised to be delivered, however, there were no processes established to collect data. This created an opportunity for the UX team to connect with the Stakeholders at Amtrak. The Co-Designer and I were challenged to persuade Stakeholders to allow us interviews with the end users of the product. We created a presentation and presented a case for our requests, along with explaining why User Centered Designs are important for the company to achieve in this production.

Initial Problem Statement

As an Amtrak Maintainer, my core responsibilities are to provide the necessary repairs and services to all assets associated with the train sets to ensure passenger safety. With such a vast number of assets assigned to a train; documenting, scheduling, and servicing a Work Order can be a tedious and often time-consuming task.

Empathizing with the User helps to answer the initial problem, so we asked……..

How might we, as Arcadis Gen Developers, configure our mobile platform to empower maintainers to have more decision-making abilities by having more information at their fingertips?

Client Facing

My Role: to identify a strategy that would allow our company to extract vital user information in order to create a user profile and a application designed to integrate technology into the end users work process.

  • I purposed and constructed a Creative Brief to present to our Product Owners Highlighting the purpose of the project and what we as the UX/UI team intended on accomplishing.

  • In the Creative Brief, I also proposed deliverables along with dates.

This is the Creative Brief I produced and presented to Product Team and internal Stakeholders.

Story Time

Facetime.jpg

As a Lead Designer, I suggested that the UX team get as close as possible to the Users to understand what their daily work environment consist of and how they currently interact with the Kiosk they used. Due to Covid, this request was impossible with the social distancing measures being enforced. So being a creative thinker, I purposed a live face-time contextual interview, were users would give a walk through of their facilities and depots and so us their daily process!
